In many yoga classes, there is an emphasis on opening the hips to access greater depths of flexibility. Have you ever wondered if its possible to have too much hip flexibility and how that may cause harm and injury? In addition, receptive stress injuries are common due to hyper-mobility in the hip region.
This workshop will incorporate the therapeutic application of gentle restorative yoga, stability work that strengthens core muscles of the hips, and myofascial release techniques to reduce pain and increase range of motion.
Anatomy of the hips will aid in understanding the roles of the superficial, intermediate, and deep muscles. We'll explore ranges of motion for the hips and gain an understanding of how both mobility and stability work can promote healing, strengthening, and reduction of inflammation and pain.
Handouts will be provided so that participants can continue the techniques in their personal practice.
Cost: $45 ($40 for clients with monthly memberships). Preregistration required. Please note: due to space-constraints & anticipated demand, this workshop is non-refundable.
