I’m forever a student first and a teacher second. There’s nothing more rewarding than connecting with others through this practice and sharing a practice that transformed my life is truly a dream job.
My yoga journey began in 2008 in Norfolk at what was then Gold’s Gym. I turned to yoga in search of relief from the demands of long-distance running and quickly fell in love with the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of the practice. I completed my first 200-hr teacher training in 2013 and have since then had the privilege of training primarily with Jason Crandell and Stephanie Snyder. Continuing to learn from them and other teachers who inspire me is a priority to me, so I travel to learn from them whenever possible.
As much as I love teaching asana, the biggest themes I like to impart in class have nothing to do with the physical practice. Recognizing and remembering the true self is the path to freedom. We peel away the layers that are NOT the true self to expose who we really are. The presence we cultivate through the practice and exploration of the self is yoga. We return to the practice again and again to remember who we really are (because we constantly forget!).
In addition to teaching public classes around Hampton Roads, I lead workshops and trainings, teach community classes for charity, and am a lululemon Ambassador for the Colonial Williamsburg store. I’m also a mentor in Jason Crandell’s 300-hr Advanced YTT program and love staying engaged with that learning community.
Outside of yoga, I have a BA in Psychology and an MBA. I spent over ten years in corporate marketing before pivoting in 2018 to fully invest myself in yoga. When I’m not teaching or practicing, I love to travel, run, and spend time with my fiancé and two beloved corgis, Finlee and Tucker. I also love vegan cooking and baking and have an eight-year-old sourdough starter that makes a pretty respectable loaf of bread.
